Nova Scotia Pension Plan $3 billion in the hole

Author: Lee Harding 2010/01/07

Bill Black is the latest to draw attention to the problems with public pensions. In his website, "New Start Nova Scotia", he demonstrates how Nova Scotia's public pension plans for MLAs, public servants, and teachers, are very generous but sometimes less than transparent. The unfunded liabilities are already $3 billion and will likely grow as the baby boomer generation retires.

Too bad this isn't an isolated problem. Instead it is a coming crisis for Canada and much of the world. For more on this, check out Bill Tufts' blog, Fair Pensions For All.
